Rates So how much is this going to cost me?

A lot of people don’t see recording, mixing or mastering as the services that they really are and they feel that they would be better off spending their money on a $400 recording interface at Guitar Center and a pair of microphones for $200 and make their album themselves.

I know I used to feel that way myself. That’s exactly how I ended up in all this stuff! I realized that making my own music on cheap stuff with not much of a technical background resulted in MUSIC that I loved, but recordings that sounded nowhere near professional.

After making hundreds of demos I realized that the path between knowing what you want to hear and making it come out of the speakers is not as simple as I imagined it would be. EQ’ing a guitar amp is completely different from EQ’ing it in the mix. Audio, when mixed and mastered, translates differently than your ears naturally anticipate, and the benefit of having a trained set of ears and the right equipment for the job is priceless.

Over time I’ve gained experience, gotten an education on the subject, and worked a lot to afford the studio I’ve built. I’ve learned that if you want quality, it is ESSENTIAL to have a quality engineer.

I do not like to do things on an hourly basis. I much more prefer to work prices out on a project basis. Considering the amount of time that goes into recording and mixing a project, it ends up being a bargain for you. Rates are negotiable depending on the nature and timeframe of the project. Also realize that as a project gets bigger, the amount of work and attention that goes into it increases as does the amount of time I am not at my day job. Depending on your budget and what you want done, a demo can be as cheap as a few hundred dollars, or an album could be a few thousand.

All recording agreements will be contractual for your protection and mine.
